Beach Cleanup Initiative in Apano Meria, Syros
KOINSEP Apano Meria and OFYPEKA are organizing a volunteer cleanup of the western beaches of Syros on Saturday, October 3rd.
A joint cleanup action for the western beaches of Apano Meria is being organized by KOINSEP Apano Meria and the Hellenic Agency for Natural Environment and Climate Change (OFYPEKA - Management Unit of Protected Areas of Central Aegean). The initiative is scheduled for Saturday, October 3rd, starting at 10:00.
Participating volunteers will split into groups to collect waste from Marmari, Megas Lakkos, Lia, and Amerikanou beaches. Access to the cleanup sites will be possible either on foot via trails starting from Kampos, or by sea with the boat Perla departing from Kini, weather permitting. Registrations are required for boat transport due to limited capacity.
According to the schedule, the meeting is set for 9:30 at the Kini pier, with departure at 10:00. The cleanup will run from 10:30 until 13:00, followed by a shared snack at Amerikanou beach before returning to Kini at 16:00. The collected waste will be transported by Nikos Printezis to Kini, where a waste disposal vehicle from the Municipality of Syros - Hermoupolis will collect it.
