From January to September 2026, airport passenger arrivals reached 780,385, while positive estimates are reported for the short-term rental market.

Passenger traffic at Mykonos airport recorded an upward trend during the first nine months of 2026, according to Fraport data presented in a mykonos.promo report. Specifically, from January to September 2026, passenger arrivals reached 780,385, marking a 5.6% increase compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Meanwhile, private jet traffic showed a 1.7% increase, bringing 5,089 passengers to the island.

Estimated figures for the short-term rental market in Mykonos are also encouraging, based on a STAMA Greece study. For 2026, occupancy in these accommodations is projected to increase by 21% compared to 2025, with the average overnight rate expected to grow by 7% and the average stay estimated at 7 to 8 nights. However, the report notes that these findings require careful evaluation as detailed methodology and data quality details have not been provided.

In the luxury tourism sector, a survey by partners of the New York Tourism Advisory Group (NYTAG) among North American luxury travel professionals showed that 100% of respondents recognize Mykonos as the top luxury destination in Greece, ahead of Corfu, Rhodes, Santorini, Crete, and Athens.

Regarding the broader US market, Bank of Greece data for the first seven months of 2026 show an 8.2% decline in arrivals from the US nationwide. Despite this decrease, travel receipts from American visitors increased by 7.9%, reaching 1.06 billion euros, with the average spend per traveler estimated at approximately 1,280 euros.
