The presentation took place at the Chamber of Cyclades, highlighting the ongoing renovation of sports facilities in Syros, expected to conclude by late 2027.
The presentation of the Foinikas Syros volleyball team for the 2026/2027 athletic season was held at the packed conference hall of the Chamber of Cyclades. The event was attended by the Minister of Sports, representatives of the administration, sponsors, and fans of the team.
During the event, the president of the TAA, Christos Kaftiranis, thanked the Minister of Sports for his contribution to the renovation of the team's home court, which had faced structural integrity issues. Due to these ongoing works, Foinikas Syros will begin its season on October 25 against Milon, using the 'Melina Merkouri' indoor hall in Rentis as its temporary home venue.
On his part, the Minister of Sports, Yiannis Vroutsis, referred to the ongoing sports projects in Syros, which include an indoor basketball court, an indoor volleyball court, and a swimming pool. The total funding from the Ministry of Sports, in cooperation with the Municipality of Syros, exceeds 5 million euros, with a completion target for all three facilities by the end of 2027, allowing the team to safely return to its natural home venue.
As part of the presentation, awards were presented to the club's supporters, including the ONEX Group, Blue Star Ferries for its contribution to the team's travel, as well as the administrators of the 'Demetrius Vikelas' Sports Center.
