Santorini: Funding Secured for New Indoor Basketball Court and LED Lighting

The Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports has published the official invitation, placing the Municipality of Thera among the beneficiaries of the Sectoral Development Program. This development paves the way for two sports infrastructure projects, which had been announced by the Deputy Sports Minister, Yiannis Vroutsis, during his recent visit to Santorini.

The first project concerns the construction of a new indoor basketball court at DAPPOS. The funding for this project, which will serve as Santorini's second indoor sports venue, is set at up to 600,000 euros, while the total cost of the project is estimated at 1.9 million euros. The remaining balance will be co-funded by the Municipality of Thera.

The second initiative focuses on upgrading the lighting of existing sports facilities in Santorini, with a budget of up to 250,554 euros. The installation of modern LED systems aims to reduce energy consumption while improving visibility and safety for athletes.
