Serifos: European Meeting on Women and the Green Transition

The Municipality of Serifos is hosting 30 representatives of European bodies under the GROW program focusing on women's empowerment and environmental sustainability.
A four-day European meeting concerning the participation of women in shaping sustainable cities and communities began in Serifos on Wednesday, October 7, and will run through Saturday, October 10. The Municipality of Serifos is welcoming 30 representatives from European organizations within the framework of the GROW program (Green Rights and Opportunities for Women), which is co-funded by the European Union.
Participants include representatives from Municipalities, Regions, organizations, and civil society bodies from countries such as Germany, Austria, Italy, Portugal, Hungary, Poland, Albania, Romania, and Greece. The initiative aims to exchange practices to strengthen the role of women in environmental decision-making, green skills development, and leadership capacity building.
The central focus of the program is the seminar titled "Green Pathways: Introduction to Women's Roles in Sustainable Cities". Additionally, the schedule includes workshops, field activities, and thematic visits, offering foreign representatives the opportunity to experience the natural environment and cultural heritage of Serifos. The coordination of the municipality's European actions is managed by Efi Anastasopoulou, European Programs Advisor for the Municipality of Serifos.
The Mayor of Serifos, Konstantinos Revinthis, noted that hosting this European meeting enhances the island's outreach and presents an opportunity to build partnerships and exchange best practices regarding sustainable development, equality, and women's empowerment.
