The vehicle, manufactured in Hermoupolis during the early 1970s, was imported to Johannesburg in 1974 for research purposes.

One of the few surviving Enfield 8000 electric cars, which were manufactured in Syros during the early 1970s, is now located in Johannesburg, South Africa. The historic vehicle is currently on permanent display at the James Hall Museum of Transport, keeping the memory of the early Syrian industrial effort in electric mobility alive.

This particular Enfield 8000 was among the 12 vehicles exported to South Africa out of a total production of 123 units manufactured at the Neorion shipyard in Hermoupolis, under the business initiative of Giannis Goulandris. Due to the inability to secure a sales permit in Greece at the time, these cars were directed abroad, primarily to Great Britain.

According to data from the South African energy publication Energize, this specific vehicle was imported to the country in 1974 by Haggie Rand to promote a battery program. Two decades later, in 1994, it was utilized in a research program on electric mobility by Eskom, South Africa's state power utility, which subsequently donated it to the transport museum.
