Tinos: Donations and New Fundraiser for the 'Friends of Green' Association
Local associations, businesses, and citizens support the organization with equipment and funds, as the association calls for further community backing.
A series of important donations in funds and equipment was recently received by the 'Friends of Green of Tinos' Association. The group's board publicly expressed gratitude to its members and supporters, while launching an appeal for a fundraiser to ensure the continuation of environmental activities on the island.
Among the contributions, Christos Moschidis donated three new wheelbarrows, pickaxes, shovels, and rakes, alongside a financial aid of 500 euros. Dimitrios Baltas and Alexis Delis provided a brushcutter and a chainsaw, while anonymous citizens left shovels and pots at the nursery. Additionally, Sklavenitis and AB Vassilopoulos companies donated potting soil for student experiments.
On the financial front, the Volax Cultural Association and the Venardados Cultural Association contributed 100 euros each, Ioannis M. Psaltis donated 240 euros, Tina Berteletou offered 50 euros, and Michalis Zarpas and Georgios Argyris contributed 20 euros each.
These resources are crucial for producing saplings at the nursery's greenhouse, operating the Environmental Education School for local students, intensifying tree-planting efforts, and restoring the traditional dovecotes of Tinos. The association also highlights the need to protect trees from vandalism and to carry out maintenance tasks such as whitewashing trunks and fencing green spaces.
