Tinos: Pilgrimage to Megalochari Continued Despite Heavy Rainfall
Despite rainfall reaching 16 mm in Chora of Tinos, a crowd of believers gathered with umbrellas to queue at the Holy Church of Evangelistria on Sunday, September 27.
Heavy rainfall occurred on Sunday, September 27 on Tinos, without however halting the flow of believers to the Holy Church of Panagia Evangelistria. Pilgrims remained in the churchyard forming queues with umbrellas in order to enter.
According to data from meteo.gr of the National Observatory of Athens, the meteorological station in Chora of Tinos recorded a total of 16.0 mm of rain during the day. Of this, 3.4 mm fell by noon, while the largest part of the rainfall was recorded during the afternoon and evening hours. Correspondingly, 2.8 mm of rain was recorded in the Porto area.
Believers continued to wait for their turn both on the marble staircase and under the church's portico, confirming the steady visitation that the Megalochari pilgrimage presents during autumn weekends.
