Cleaning of over 300 storm drains nearing completion in Tinos

The Municipality of Tinos is completing its storm drain cleaning program ahead of the winter period. Works began in mid-September, and over 300 storm drains across the island have been cleaned so far.

The operations are being implemented by the Municipal Water Service, assisted when necessary by the Sanitation Service and the Port Fund, according to an announcement signed by Deputy Mayor for Water Services Ioannis Zalonis.

During the works, debris is removed and inspections are carried out. Where damage was identified, on-site repairs or replacements were performed.

The Municipality notes that a large portion of the removed materials consists of waste, mainly plastic bottles, and urges residents not to leave garbage or debris near storm drains and streams.
