Mission
Mykonea is an independent digital news publication focused on Mykonos, the Cyclades and Greece.
Its purpose is clear, useful, timely and verifiable reporting.
Editorial independence
Editorial decisions are kept separate from advertising, sponsorship and commercial relationships.
Sponsored or advertising material must be clearly identified.
Sources and verification
Mykonea uses identifiable journalistic and official sources as evidence.
Using a source does not constitute permission to copy its text or visual material.
- Facts are distinguished from claims, estimates and opinion.
- Contested claims are attributed to the person or source making them.
- Multiple sources may be compared where useful before publication.
Use of artificial intelligence
Mykonea uses AI-assisted tools for collection, classification, synthesis, translation and production.
AI is not treated as an independent factual source and does not remove editorial accountability.
Automated stories are attributed to Mykonea rather than invented journalist identities.
Sensitive reporting
Politics, crime, legal or disciplinary cases, health, minors, deaths, serious allegations and other high-risk subjects may require additional editorial review before publication.
Images and illustrations
Mykonea does not treat photographs from other publishers as free to reuse merely because they are available online.
When suitable material with clear usage rights is unavailable, original AI-assisted imagery may be generated.
AI-generated imagery is editorial illustration and not documentary evidence that the depicted event occurred exactly as shown.
Bylines and accountability
Articles display publication and attribution information.
The founder and publisher is responsible for the publication’s overall operation and policies without implying personal authorship of every automated article.
Corrections
Material factual errors are corrected without artificially refreshing the original publication date.
