Kythnos and Andros: New Measures for Kythnos Port and Gavrio School Access
The Information Office at Kythnos port will operate as a heated waiting area, while vehicle entry to the Primary School in Gavrio, Andros, will close.
The Municipality of Kythnos announced that starting Friday, November 6, 2026, the Information Office at the island's port will open two hours prior to every ship departure. The area will be available to passengers as a heated waiting space for protection against weather conditions.
Meanwhile, the Municipality of Andros decided to close vehicle access to the area between Gavrio Primary School and the under-construction 5x5 field starting Friday, November 6, 2026. The decision was taken for student safety and to facilitate construction work, following an October 27, 2026 meeting involving Deputy Mayor Andreas Vossos, Technical Service engineers, and school directors.
For student arrivals in Gavrio, access to the Primary School will be conducted via the pedestrian entrance and the side door. Access to Gavrio Junior High and High School will be routed through a road created within the municipal vehicle parking area.
