Students from Mykonos Visit Iraklia for October 28th Celebrations Amid Weather Cancellation Dispute

An initiative by the Ano Mera Primary School coincided with conflicting local announcements regarding parade cancellations across the Cyclades.
A total of 21 students from the Ano Mera Primary School in Mykonos traveled to Iraklia in the Small Cyclades to take part in the October 28th national holiday events alongside the island's four local students.
The initiative was organized by Giorgos Katsikinis, principal of the Ano Mera Primary School. Transport was supported by the Municipality of Mykonos, while host families in Iraklia accommodated the visitors. Iraklia currently has three elementary school students and one kindergarten student.
The planned parade faced uncertainty following a decision issued by the Deputy Regional Governor of the Cyclades, Giorgos Leontaritis, cancelling student parades across the region due to expected severe weather.
However, the Mayor of Nacos and Small Cyclades, Dimitris Lianos, stated that the municipality intends to proceed with the scheduled events if weather permits, questioning the legal validity of the regional cancellation order.
