How October 28th Celebrations Changed in Komi, Tinos Over Four Decades

Comparative details record the transition from student parades in 1986 to today's modest procession by local residents.
In the village of Komi on Tinos, the October 28th anniversary was commemorated with the participation of local residents, who accompanied the flag from the Catholic church to the village war memorial. The procession took place under light rain, at a time when the parade in Chora was canceled due to a rain forecast.
The current picture stands in contrast to 1986, when the Komi primary school was fully operational and dozens of students paraded in the church courtyard. Today, children from the area attend the consolidated primary school in Loutra, where primary students from surrounding villages have gathered.
The former school building in Komi retains the historic inscription 'Komi Primary School' on its facade, while its entrance now indicates its use as a Creative Activity Center for Children (KDAP) operated by the Municipality of Tinos. A memorial service and wreath-laying took place in its courtyard at the war memorial.
