Folegandros Connected to Mainland High-Voltage Grid via Naxos and Santorini

The electrical interconnection project of the Southern Cyclades carries a total budget of 385.7 million euros.
Consumers in Folegandros are now supplied with power from the mainland electrical system. The connection is routed through Naxos and Santorini via a high-voltage grid, confirming the operational readiness of ADMHE's submarine cable system.
The electrical interconnection project of the Southern Cyclades has a total budget of 385.7 million euros. Construction completion of the new interconnection was achieved in June, encompassing the islands of Santorini, Folegandros, Milos, and Serifos.
The cable section between Santorini and Folegandros spans 60 km at 150 kV, integrating fiber optics. It was laid at a maximum depth of 340 meters and buried along its route for protection. A high-voltage gas-insulated substation (GIS) featuring masonry cladding was constructed in Folegandros.
