Safety instructions issued for mariners and residents due to southwest winds reaching up to 8 Beaufort.

The Tinos Port Authority has issued emergency recommendations to the public, mariners, and local authorities following instructions from the Hellenic Coast Guard Headquarters due to hazardous weather conditions expected in the sea area around the island.

According to Gale Warning No. 451 issued by the National Meteorological Service, southwest winds measuring 7 to 8 Beaufort are expected in the Southeastern Aegean and the Icarian Sea (west of 25.10) between 16:00 and 19:00 UTC.

Port officials urge vessel owners and captains to immediately secure their moorings and anchorage. Small craft, fishing boats, pleasure boats, and sailing clubs are advised to avoid sailing, while residents and visitors should stay away from coastal areas, piers, and breakwaters.

In emergencies at sea or along the coast, the public can contact the Hellenic Coast Guard Operations Center at 108 or 112, or the Tinos Port Authority at 22830-22348 and 22830-22220. All vessels are required to maintain a continuous listening watch on VHF Channel 16.
