A public presentation by a workshop in Steni highlights the four main rock families of the island.

The ErgonArt marble sculpting workshop of Stella Alverti in Steni presented an informative guide on the geological composition of Tinos, which mainly consists of metamorphic and magmatic rocks. The presentation focuses on the four primary rock families of the island and their connection to local art and architecture.

The marbles include Tinos green marble in the Steni region, known geologically as serpentinite or ophicalcite, as well as white and grey-white marbles with reserves in Panormos. Granites in the inland area, mainly around Volakas, Falatados, and Livada, form a distinct feature of the landscape. Additionally, schists are traditionally used as a primary building material for houses, dry stone walls, and dovecotes, while talc is also part of the island's geological makeup.
