The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy has signed two public service contracts with the shipping company SERIFOS Fast Ferries to cover ferry connections in the South-Western Cyclades. The contracts involve three weekly itineraries operated by the passenger-car ferry 'Dionysios Solomos', renewing the vessel's existing service on these lines.

The first contract provides one weekly round-trip on the route Piraeus or Lavrio – Milos – Folegandros – Sikinos – Ios – Santorini, with the option to call at one intermediate port. The second contract covers two weekly round-trips on the route Piraeus or Lavrio – Sifnos – Folegandros – Sikinos – Ios – Thira, with the option to call at up to two intermediate ports, one of which will be Kythnos or Kimolos.

Both contracts take effect on November 1, 2026, and will remain valid until the completion of an ongoing tender process, with a maximum end date of October 31, 2027.
