Significant Rainfall in Naxos and Paros with the Start of the Hydrological Year
Significant rainfall and local storms were recorded on Sunday, September 27 in Naxos and Paros, with the highest precipitation levels measured in eastern Naxos.
The new hydrological year in Paronaxia began with significant rainfall and local storms on Sunday, September 27, 2026. The most intense phenomena occurred on the island of Naxos, particularly on its eastern side, where the rainfall rate reached very high levels.
According to data published by the private meteorological station network Weather Naxos–Paros, the rainfall rate in Lygaridia, eastern Naxos, reached 100.2 mm/hr at 10:25 AM. In Naxos, the highest precipitation levels until the afternoon were recorded in Lygaridia with 33.1 mm, Filoti with 30.2 mm, and Tripodes with 28.0 mm, while Chora's center recorded 14.5 mm.
In Paros, the same stations recorded milder but notable precipitation levels. The highest measurements were observed in Farangas with 18.0 mm and Aspro Chorio with 16.8 mm, while Parikia recorded 2.3 mm of rain.
