Severe Weather Warning Issued with Orange Alert by HNMS

A shift in weather conditions is expected starting from Friday evening, September 25, 2026, beginning in the northwestern parts of the country. The Hellenic National Meteorological Service issued an emergency weather bulletin with an orange alert, warning of locally heavy rainfall and storms, alongside the possibility of localized hail.

The weather phenomena are projected to progress gradually over the weekend. According to forecast data from the National Observatory of Athens/meteo.gr, the rain is expected to expand to the mainland, mainly affecting eastern and southern parts of the country on Saturday and Sunday. Civil Protection has called on citizens to take self-protection measures, while relevant authorities are on high alert.
