Cyclades Basketball Clubs Union: Continuation of Championships with Adjustments Due to Ferry Routes and Venues

The Union decided to proceed with feasible matches while navigating inter-island ferry disruption and venue availability issues in Santorini and Naxos.
The board of directors of the Cyclades Basketball Clubs Union held an emergency meeting on Monday, November 2, regarding the progress of local championships. The Union decided to continue championship action with matches that are feasible to hold, adjusting the schedule based on prevailing conditions.
A primary factor affecting the scheduling is changes in ferry timetables, which create significant difficulties for team travel between islands. Additionally, venue availability issues were reported.
In Santorini, the DAPPOS Indoor Hall was unavailable for matches and training on specific dates in September and October due to scheduled events. According to the Municipality of Thira, these dates included September 25–27, October 1–3, October 11, October 17–18, and October 24–25, 2026, alongside AO Thiras team commitments.
Further scheduling challenges arose from the inability to secure an available court in Naxos up to now, which the Union hopes will be resolved starting next weekend.
