Maintenance crews are clearing drainage ditches and roadsides to prevent flooding ahead of autumn rains.

Road maintenance work has commenced on the island of Tinos, specifically on the section from Xynara to Loutra. A specialized maintenance crew is cleaning the roadside shoulders, from the edge of the asphalt to the rainwater drainage ditch.

These interventions are taking place ahead of the first autumn rainfalls to prevent flooding. When the ditches are blocked by soil, dry grass, and stones, rainwater overflows onto the asphalt, carrying mud and gravel and making the road hazardous.

Drivers traveling through the area are advised to be particularly careful, as soil, cut grass, and gravel temporarily remain on the side of the road due to the ongoing work. Caution is especially recommended for motorcyclists and cyclists, particularly on bends, while signage has been installed warning of construction site traffic 50 meters ahead.
