Karpos Xerolithias: New Social Cooperative Enterprise in Tinos aims to revive local agricultural production

The new cooperative aims to utilize abandoned fields and highlight local olive varieties, with its first two olive oil labels set to launch in November.
A new approach to the agricultural heritage of Tinos is being introduced by the newly established Social Cooperative Enterprise (SCE) named "Karpos Xerolithias". This initiative aims to address a significant gap in the island's processing sector while focusing on restoring abandoned land.
The core pillars of the enterprise's activity include implementing low-impact cultivation methods, promoting local products, and strengthening the primary sector for collective benefit. To achieve these goals, partnerships are planned with local producers, catering businesses, collective bodies, and professionals on the island.
Special emphasis is placed on restoring the traditional olive grove of Tinos, which extends across dry-stone terraces on the island's slopes and has faced significant abandonment in recent years. In this context, the cooperative's first two extra virgin olive oil labels are scheduled to hit the market in November.
