With over 3,600 participants from 42 countries, the four-day Santorini Experience 2026 sports event concluded in Santorini, having taken place from October 15 to 18. The program included trail running races along the Caldera, open water swimming from the volcano to the Old Port of Fira, as well as educational and cultural activities.
According to the organizers' report, approximately one in four participants traveled from abroad. The event recorded more than 2,000 overnight stays across 38 island hotels participating as hospitality sponsors. In the competitive events, France's Caroline Jouisse placed first overall in the 2.4km open water swim with a time of 30 minutes and 29 seconds, while Stylianos Drosos won both the 15km trail race and the 5km route.
Alongside the athletic program, educational meetings with students were held on October 15 and 16 at the Messaria Junior High School and the Bellonio Cultural Center in Fira. Environmental measures included race numbers made from seed paper, medals created from reused materials, and powering part of the event's energy needs with a solar generator.
